The 1st Annual Heterotaxy Syndrome Awareness 2-Mile Walk, hosted by Malachi’s House of Hope, is a community event dedicated to raising awareness, honoring families, and supporting children affected by Heterotaxy Syndrome — a rare and complex congenital condition that impacts the arrangement and function of internal organs.
Held at The AMP in Brighton, Michigan, this event brings together families, medical professionals, advocates, and community partners for a morning of unity, education, and hope. Participants will walk a two-mile route designed to symbolize the journey that families navigate through diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care.
The event features:
Resource and education stations to help families understand Heterotaxy Syndrome
Recognition moments honoring children and families impacted by rare congenital conditions
Community engagement activities to build connection and support
Fundraising opportunities that directly support Malachi’s House of Hope programs, including trauma-informed care kits, family support services, and outreach to pediatric medical centers
This walk serves as both a tribute and a call to action — raising visibility for a condition that is often misunderstood, while empowering families with compassion, resources, and community support. It also establishes a foundation for continued advocacy and an annual tradition of awareness and hope.
