Andrew E. Boss, P.S. promoted to Director of Surveying
Andy Boss has been announced as the Director of Surveying, following the retirement of Chris Fergus last week. Mr. Boss has spent the past 29 years working in various roles in the Survey Department and is one of four owners of Boss Engineering Company. He is carrying on a strong tradition as the third generation of professional surveyors in the family, following his grandfather, Oscar Boss, P.S. and his father, Gary R. Boss, P.E., P.S. His uncles Wayne and Bryan were also professional surveyors, and his uncle Mike was a professional engineer.
Andy graduated from Howell High School in 1988 and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Grand Valley State University in 1993. He joined Boss Engineering in February 1997. After serving in multiple positions in the Survey Department for over 20 years, Andy went back to school at Ferris State University, where he completed all educational requirements to become a surveyor in 2024. He passed the state examination in June of 2025 and became licensed as a Professional Surveyor in the State of Michigan.
Boss Engineering was started in 1969 by Gary R. Boss. Gary Boss was an Engineer and Surveyor and had help from his father Oscar and brothers, Wayne, Bryan, Michael and Dan. Today Boss Engineering is a multi-faceted Civil Engineering, Land Surveying and Landscape Architectural firm serving public and private sector clients.
