ART Doing Good Launches with Community Art at Balloonfest
New nonprofit brings together creativity and purpose to support local causes—next up: a sunflower-inspired fundraiser for Earl Farm Foundation
Howell, MI — June 30, 2025 — A colorful spark of creativity lit up Balloonfest weekend as ART Doing Good made its official debut with a hands-on public art experience. Throughout the event, hundreds of people—locals and visitors alike—contributed drawings, words, and colors to a 4’x8’ canvas, filling sketchbooks and papers with stories, symbols, and inspiration.
The activity marked the launch of ART Doing Good, a new nonprofit founded by Michigan artist Susan Pominville. Focused on using art to tell stories, spark generosity, and connect people to causes, ART Doing Good is building momentum through community-powered projects that make a lasting impact.
“Balloonfest felt like the perfect way to launch ART Doing Good,” said founder Susan Pominville. “It was full of energy, color, and real connection. People of all ages stopped by—some with big ideas, others just curious to pick up a marker and be part of it. That shared creative spark is what this is all about.”
The artwork and ideas shared during Balloonfest will serve as inspiration for a new public mural, coming later this year to Downtown Howell. Designed to reflect the voices and visions of the community, the mural will be shaped by the participation that began at the launch event—and continue to grow from there. The project is being created with Founding Partner Rotary Club of Howell, along with the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce and the Howell Carnegie District Library, whose shared vision is helping bring this community mural to life. Before the mural takes shape, ART Doing Good is launching its next major fundraiser: a 100-piece sunflower painting created to benefit the Earl Farm Foundation. Scheduled for August 1–3, this project will support Earl Farm’s mission of providing monthly beef deliveries to local food pantries—using art to help grow good right here in Livingston County.
Tickets for the event are available now at earlfarm.com, and each ticket includes early access to purchase one of the limited-edition canvases.
Each canvas from the sunflower painting will be available for purchase, with proceeds directly supporting the foundation’s food access efforts. A limited number of signed, numbered canvases will be offered during the weekend of the fundraiser.
“Every project we do is rooted in purpose,” said Pominville. “This is about more than paint on a wall. It’s about turning creativity into something meaningful—and doing it together.”
