Captain’s on Main Surpasses 1,000 Meals Delivered

Captain’s on Main Concludes Expanded #PizzaAcrossAmerica Campaign, Delivering 1,120 Meals to Bountiful Harvest Food Pantry

April 2026, Brighton, MICHIGAN – Captain’s on Main has successfully completed its participation in the #PizzaAcrossAmerica campaign for 2026, delivering a total of 1,120 meals to BOUNTIFUL HARVEST food pantry for distribution throughout the local community.

The Pizza Across America campaign, coordinated by Slice Out Hunger, is a nationwide initiative uniting pizzerias to fight food insecurity, with participating shops donating and delivering a minimum of 10 pizzas on National Pizza Day to local shelters and soup kitchens. Captain’s on Main committed to donating 30 pizzas and expanded the effort by inviting the community to sponsor additional pizzas and meals through a week-long series of fundraising and giveback events in celebration of National Pizza Day (February 9).
Thanks to the support of customers, local businesses, and community SPONSORS, those efforts made it possible to go far beyond the initial delivery. In addition to the 30 donated pizzas, Captain’s completed five additional deliveries of 200 meals each, bringing the total to six deliveries, and 1,120 meals served. The team also delivered community-written notes of encouragement and a $102 donation raised through in-store giveback initiatives. Additional ‘Pi Day’ (March 14) efforts helped fund the sixth delivery.
This was Captain’s 3rd time participating in #PizzaAcrossAmerica. In previous years, Captain’s on Main delivered pizzas directly to Bountiful Harvest. This year, after witnessing the level of need following the first delivery, Captain’s on Main owners, Nick and Lauren Mannisto, decided to take it a step further, transforming their back bench tables into a meal packing station each Thursday to prepare 200 ready-to-go meals per delivery. With assistance from the Brighton Fire Authority, meals were packed and delivered by Nick, Lauren and the Captain’s crew and then immediately distributed by Bountiful Harvest drivers.
The 1,120 meals included mostaccioli pasta, sloppy joes, fresh salads with dressing, and 130 pizzas, with meat for select deliveries generously donated by Earl Farm Foundation, providing assorted, hearty, well-rounded meals to those in need.
This year’s expanded effort highlights the impact of community collaboration and reinforces owner Nick’s mission and dream to be “the pie that gives a slice back.” With deep gratitude, Nick, Lauren and the entire Captain’s crew recognizes the customers, downtown businesses, first responders, and neighbors who showed up, gave generously, and made this effort possible.
